Humans beings are social animals and we have always lived in groups.Being together has helped humans to survive and become a dominant species on Earth.Today we often hear people use phrases like self made man/millionaire etc giving more importance to individual performance. But the reality is nobody can achieve anything alone. As infants we survived due to support from our parents. Our teacher and well wishers helped us in our education. The food we eat is grown by a farmer whom we have never met.At work place we depend on efforts of our colleagues to achieve our goals. So to proclaim that we are self made is being selfish. It said always choose our words carefully, as words can make or break.Words can inspire or demotivate.
We stands for wellness and I Stands for Illness. We like people who use We over I. The word We builds trust, promote team work and helps in achieving our goals. There is a saying,
"The game is bigger than the player,
The Organisation is bigger than the employee,
The purpose is bigger than you and me."
Just for my interest I started analyzing speeches of famous people.I tried to find out the number of times they use the word We and I in their speeches. It becomes very clear that successful people often use words like We,US over I,Me.Here I will be presenting the analysis I did on the speech delivered by first Prime Minister of India J Nehru on the occasion of Independence of India. To my surprise I found out that he used the word We thirty four times,Us twelve times and never used the word I or Me.You can read the full speech titled Tryst with Destiny from the link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tryst_with_Destiny .
Analysis of J Nehru's Speech "Tryst with Destiny"
Note:I and ME are given a dummy value of one just to have better representation
