Yaksha and Yudhishthira







I have been reading Mahabaratha and it has given me answers to many of my problems.During the time of Vanwas Yushisthira encounters Yama in form of Yaksha.Yudhishthira was known to follow Dharma and Yama wanted to test him.He asked him several questions and answers of these questions are guiding light to live a peaceful and contented life.We studied this during our schooling days and reading it again was a real refresher for me.

1. Who makes the sun rise?
God

The suns natural duty,its dharma

3.Where is the truth captured?
In the Vedas

4.What makes a Brahman?
Understanding of the Veda

5.What makes Brahmans worth of worship?
Ability to control mind

6.What makes a Kshatriyas powerful?
Their weapons

7.What makes them noble?
Their charity

8.When is a man who is alive considered to be dead?
When he does not share his wealth with gods,guests,servants,animals and ancestors

9.What is faster than wind?
The mind

10.More numerous than grass?
Thoughts

11.What is more valuable than gold?
Health

12.Most desired form of Happiness?
Contentment

13.What is the greatest deed?
Non Violence

14.What is measure of a man?
Conduct

15.What is forgiveness?
Enduring the worst enemies

16.What is mercy?
Wishing Happiness to all

17.What is simplicity?
Equanimity

18.What is only thing man can conquer?
His own mind

19.What when renounced makes one agreeable?
Pride

20.What when renounced makes one wealthy?
Desire

21.Who is mans most dreaded enemy?
Anger

22.What is the worst disease?
Greed

23.What is charity?
Helping the helpless

24.What is the most amazing thing about the world?
Everyday creatures die,yet the rest live as if immortal
