Man and Machine

The buzz word in today world is artificial intelligence and automation.As with any technology it has it pros and cons.The advantage will be more automation,reduced cost and improvement in efficiency.Today almost all sectors of the economy is affected by the advances in artificial intelligence and automation.In automobile industry autonomous electric cars and automation in manufacturing will have huge impact of jobs.

Artificial intelligence will replace doctors,lawyers,financial analyst and all the other jobs which can be automated.All this changes are happening at a very rapid rate.Today in India we hear everyday about massive layoffs and lack of job creation.Most of this is triggered by automation and because of a slump in global economy.

So as days go by most of today's jobs will be getting elimated and will be getting replaced by artificial intelligence and automation.The question is what's skills will be needed to stay revalent in coming days?.One thing to remember is there are still areas which cannot be easily automated.These skills are ability to think,emotional intelligence,empathy, listening, negotiations, understanding,motivating and interacting with human beings.

What we need to understand is that AI is to help human beings and not the replace or eliminate human race.In today world with all the technological advances and means of communication most people are lonley,stressed,anxious and less social.Very few people is cities can put up their hand and say they have one or two good friends.Few people to whom they can talk to or share their problems.Humans have become less social as this is first time in human history we have very less dependence on other fellow human beings.

With a click of a button any thing can be delivered to our door steps.Even a generation back humans very highly dependent on each other for their survival.But today we don't directly see dependence on each other.This has made people to be more introvert and less social.But as AI takes over,our social and human skills will start becoming more valuable.I will finish it with a African proverb "If you want to go fast walk alone but if you want to go far walk together"
