Every one in this world is after fame and feels that he or she needs to be recognized by the world. It is one of the basic human instincts to aspire to be famous. People will do anything to be famous. So I thought writing on this subject with the help of an imaginary story that I read on fame some time back. There was an ordinary man living in a village. He noted that whenever the kings of his region died their name was written with gold on top of a mountain in heaven. Looking at this he started to think that when he dies his name should also be written with gold on top of the mountain so that people will remember him.

With this aspiration in mind he started to work towards being the king of the empire. To achieve this he had to build his own army. Sacrificed his time with family to work towards his ultimate goal of being the king of the empire. To be the king he had to fight many battles. In due coarse of time he started to fight many battles, conquered many territories and killed many soldiers and innocent people. Finally after many years he was successful in becoming the king of the empire. This made him very happy & egoistic that finally his name will be written on top of the mountain with gold.

The king grew old and finally died. After death he reached  heaven.He told the door keeper that his name has to be written on top of the mountain with gold. Then the king noted that there was no space left on top of the mountain.Top was fully covered with the names of kings who had died before him. Then King asked the door keeper," what he will do to accommodate his name on top of the mountain". The door keeper replied that he will rub the names of the previous kings to accommodate his name. Then suddenly king became sad as he realized that after some time his name will be rubbed off to accommodate some other king’s name. This gave the king a great realization that fame is only temporary. It was not worth killing all the people and doing misdeeds to reach the top.

 Alexander the great on his death bed informed his soldier's about his final three wishes

1. His coffin should be brought home by his physician. People must understand that when death comes even the physician is helpless.
2. The gold, silver and gems from his treasure should be spread on the way while his coffin is being carried towards the graveyard. This was to be done so that people understand that he wasted his whole life to collect the treasure which was of no use in the end.
3. Put his hand out of the coffin. This was to tell people that he had come empty handed and he would be leaving the world empty handed.
