Integrity

I am standing at Madiwala bus stop waiting for my bus to Chennai. I am already thinking when will I come to Bangalore next. I have always found it difficult to be away from home. After all humans are social animals and we need company to be happy. But what prompted me to write a blog is a small girl selling pens for a living.

She came over to me and asked me to buy pens from her. I didn't want them as they were very long for my liking. I told her I don't want the pens. She replied back Anna I do this so that we can have food. I told her I can buy her some food. But she didn't accept my offer. Finally I paid her Rs 30 and told her I didn't want the pens. But she put the pens worth 30 Rs in my hand and ran away. I was very touched by her sense of responsibility and integrity at a tender age. Integrity and honesty doesn't depend on ones social status, education, wealth or ethnicity. It's a very rare personal treasure.

As we are in election season these are the real issues that we have to tackle..After Independence father of Nation M K Gandhi had said, "My vision of India is where no one goes to bed hungry as to the hungry food is God".Even seven decades after independence small children are denied their right to education, health and peaceful childhood. While I board a bus to Chennai I wish this child good luck for her future. #NYAY #betibachaobetipadhao
